The Louisville area is now under a Winter Storm Warning until Wednesday morning as a new storm system moves through the region, bringing significant Snowfall of up to 4 inches in some areas.
Heavy Snowfall Expected in Louisville
Meteorologists predict that much of Louisville could receive 2-4 inches of snow between Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon. According to John Gordon, meteorologist-in-charge for NWS Louisville, the heaviest snowfall is expected to hit between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Affected Areas and Higher Snowfall Totals
The Winter Storm Warning also applies to Elizabethtown, Frankfort, and Lexington. Lexington could experience the highest snowfall totals in the state, with up to 6 inches or more expected on Tuesday.
“Someone will get 3-6 inches of snow,” Gordon stated. “The exact location is still uncertain.”

Flood Watch for Southern Kentucky
While northern and central Kentucky will experience heavy snowfall, southern Kentucky is under a flood watch through Tuesday night. Instead of snow, the region is likely to see heavy rain, leading to minor-to-moderate flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
Additional rain showers are expected Wednesday and over the weekend, which could lead to minor flooding along the Ohio River and other waterways.
