ISLAMABAD: The government has announced no changes to Petrol Prices or high-speed diesel (HSD) rates for the next fortnight. Petrol will remain at Rs248.38 per litre, & HSD at Rs255.14 per litre. However, the cost of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) has increased by up to 2.7% for November.
Conversely, lighter fuels like kerosene see minimal demand at just 10,000 tons per month. The government also charges Rs50 per litre PDL on light diesel & high-octane fuels, primarily used in luxury vehicles.
Key Points About Petrol:
- Petrol Prices stay at Rs248.38 per litre, & HSD at Rs255.14 per litre.
- RLNG prices raised to $13.26 per mmBtu (SNGPL) & $12.80 per mmBtu (SSGCL) due to higher import costs.
- No General Sales Tax (GST) is applied on petroleum products, but Rs60 per litre Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) is charged on petrol & HSD.
- Additional charges include Rs16 per litre in customs duty & Rs17 per litre in distribution & sales margins for oil companies & dealers.
- Petrol & HSD contribute significantly to revenue with monthly sales of 700,000–800,000 tons.
- Lighter fuels like kerosene have minimal demand, at just 10,000 tons per month.
- Luxury vehicle fuels like high-octane blending component & 95RON petrol are taxed at Rs50 per litre PDL.
Currently, the government imposes a petroleum development levy (PDL) of Rs60 per litre on petrol & HSD, alongside Rs16 per litre in customs duty & Rs17 per litre as distribution & sales margins for oil companies. Despite zero GST on petroleum products, these levies meaningfully contribute to state revenues, with petrol & HSD sales reaching 700,000–800,000 tons monthly.
This decision ensures stability in Petrol Prices, but the rise in RLNG costs reflects global price fluctuations. Stay informed on the latest updates to fuel rates & their economic impact!
