ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, a Powerful Earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Islamabad & various cities across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Causing widespread concern & prompting residents to evacuate buildings. According to ARY, the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed that the quake’s tremors were felt across a wide area. Including Islamabad, Swat, Malakand, Charsadda, Mansehra, Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Chitral, Upper Dir, Khyber, Landi Kotal, Jamrud, Tirah, Buner, & KP regions.

The NSMC stated that the epicenter of this Powerful Earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan, with a depth of 220 kilometers. As tremors shook the cities, residents immediately took to safety measures, leaving their homes & workplaces, while many recited Kalma-e-Tayyaba as they gathered in open areas. Fortunately, no casualties or property damage were reported following the quake.

Earlier this month, the region also experienced a 4.7-magnitude earthquake centered in the Hindu Kush, affecting Swat & nearby areas with a depth of 89 kilometers. This earlier tremor similarly led to minor panic but resulted in no damage or injuries.

Additionally, on September 11, a 5.4-magnitude earthquake impacted various parts of Pakistan, particularly KP & Punjab, including Islamabad. This earlier quake, recorded at 12:29 PM PKT, registered at 5.7 magnitudes with a shallow depth of 10 kilometers & an epicenter close to DG Khan, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
