Imran Khan Condemns Political Suppression and Alleged Election Rigging

Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder, Imran Khan, has strongly criticized the current political establishment, alleging that they have imposed the nation’s biggest money launderers through election rigging. Speaking to journalists and lawyers at Adiala Jail, he accused the government of suppressing opposition voices and manipulating the system in favor of certain political figures.

Nation’s Resistance Against Political Suppression

Imran Khan praised the Pakistani people for their participation in protests across Punjab, Sindh, & Swabi on Feb 8, despite facing state oppression and intimidation. He emphasized that the nation is breaking free from fear and is determined to fight for real democracy.

“The ruling elite is terrified. Nationwide raids, violence against protestors, and restrictions on rallies, such as the ban on the Minar-e-Pakistan rally, are proof of their desperation,” he stated.

Imran Khan’s Letter to the Army Chief

Imran Khan revealed that he wrote a letter to the Army Chief with good intentions for the country’s welfare. However, he accused the establishment of running the political system behind the scenes, stating,

“Even children know that the country’s system is controlled by the Army Chief. The interference is undeniable.”

He further criticized the appointment of Mohsin Naqvi, who, according to him, has never contested even a councilor’s seat but now holds significant power over the country’s political, economic, and foreign affairs.

Judicial Corruption and Democratic Backsliding

The former PM lambasted the judiciary, particularly Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, calling him the “most biased and shameless Chief Justice in history.” He accused him of facilitating unconstitutional actions that undermined democracy and human rights.

Additionally, he pointed out that the 26th Constitutional Amendment stripped away the independence of the Supreme Court, enabling a fake government to seize power. He called on Justice Yahya Afridi to stand up for justice and resist becoming an enabler of authoritarian rule.

Media Suppression and Economic Collapse

Imran Khan condemned the Pakistani media crackdown, including restrictions imposed by PICA’s black law and internet shutdowns that cost the economy $1.7 billion. He highlighted the alarming brain drain, with 1.7 million Pakistanis migrating abroad due to economic instability and unemployment.

“Our people are leaving because they see no future here. The economic collapse is evident, yet the government continues to silence dissent instead of fixing the crisis,” he warned.

Corruption and the Collapse of Accountability

The PTI founder accused the establishment of shutting down corruption cases against two ruling families, despite years of intelligence agencies exposing their financial misdeeds. He cited:

  • The NAB amendments closed the Mayfair flats, One Hyde Park bribery scandal, Omni Group fraud, and other corruption cases.
  • During PTI’s tenure, NAB recovered Rs. 480 billion, compared to just Rs. 80-90 billion in the past 17 years.

Imran Khan insisted that the establishment is now presenting those previously labeled as looters as leaders due to their loyalty.

Army’s Role in Political Engineering

Imran Khan held the military responsible for eroding democracy by supporting a puppet government that aims to crush PTI and keep opposition members behind bars. He argued that this political interference has widened the gap between the army and the people.

“Where there is democracy, there is development,” he asserted, citing historical examples such as East vs. West Germany and the Soviet Union’s collapse due to dictatorship.

Conclusion: A Call for True Democracy

Imran Khan reaffirmed his commitment to restoring democracy and holding free and fair elections. He called for the establishment of independent commissions to investigate political engineering, election rigging, and human rights violations.

“The people of Pakistan deserve real leadership, not imposed rulers,” he declared, urging the nation to continue fighting for their rights.
